Celebrity gossip websites have recently learned that TOM CRUISE spending his 50th birthday without his daughter SURI “tore at his heart.”
Aaww… that’s so sad!
Prior to all the divorce drama, Cruise initially intended to spend his birthday with Katie Holmes and their daughter Suri in Iceland, where he’s been filming his upcoming movie, “Oblivion.” Unfortunately, Katie’s sudden divorce filing effectively nixed that plan.
So, instead of spending his birthday out of the country, Tom ended up flying back to the States to celebrate with his adopted kids with Nicole Kidman, Bella and Connor, as well as a few immediate relatives.
And while the actor was turning the big 5-0 in Beverly Hills, his daughter and estranged wife were enjoying some ice cream in New York.
A source tells RadarOnline.com:
“[Tom’s birthday was] just very, very sad.”
However, though she wasn’t with him on his birthday, the “Mission Impossible” star did get to speak with Suri on the phone.
Another source reveals:
“Suri knew it was his birthday on Tuesday, and she said she had made a card for him and made him a gift.”
The insider adds:
“…and it just tore at his heart.”
The sadder thing is, if Katie gets her way (she’s asking for sole legal custody in their divorce), Tom’s birthday will definitely not be the only occasion his daughter Suri will be absent from.
The source shares:
“[Tom] feels that [Katie] is trying to cut him out of their daughter’s life. Tom won’t tolerate it and told his lawyers that if he personally needs to go to court and make a plea in front of the judge for an order allowing him to see his daughter, he will.”
