Mr. Abdulai Bayraytay, pictured, is a prominent member of the Patriotic Vanguard team; in fact he was one of the founding members. He is currently a government spokesman in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Recently, the opposition New People online newspaper published a damaging report on him that was not substantiated with any evidence, neither was he given the opportunity to respond.
To have his own side, PV CEO/Publisher Gibril Koroma sent him note and here is his response:
1. My family sent me to study in Canada and I was offered a Teaching Assistantship in the department of Political Science teaching first and second year students at the Canadian university I was studying.
2. If a penny from government or any one for that matter was involved in my travel to Canada apart fom my family, then I am ready to face whatever consequences. If anybody has evidence to the contrary, let them come forward with it.
3. I graduated in June 2001 with an MA in Political Science with a bias in
International Relations from Wilfrid Laurier university in Waterloo,
Canada. Up to my departure from canada, I was an immediate support worker with Ceridian, Canada Ltd.
4.I worked previously with the Catholic Children’s Aid Society in
Toronto, and in the Ministry of Children’s and Youth Services in Toronto as
support worker under the youth justice program
4. I completed a Master’s degree in Social Work with specialization in
Child Protection from the University of Toronto in 2009 and then
worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Sierra Leone) from May 2008 till 2010.
I also served as country representative of Sierra Leone Canadian Children’s
Aid Society in Sierra Leone from 2008 to 2010. SLCCAS has adequately addressed another aspect of the New People allegations in other Sierra Leonean newspapers.
