Mrs. Alice Koroma “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven Cannot Heal”
Sierra Leoneans awoke today to the news of the passing away of Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma, the mother of President Ernest Bai Koroma. Mrs. Alice Koroma lived for 80 fruitful years during which she bore several children including Sierra Leone’s sitting President His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma. According to one Patricia Johnson, “by the fruits is the tree known.” The viability and quality of the crop is indicative of its origin-tree. Mrs. Alice Koroma is widely known as a compassionate mother who raised her children with pious virtues. She was benevolent and helped to make ends meet for the hungry and needy within her community and around the nation. Mrs. Alice Koroma was loving, kind, forgiving, caring, affectionate, god-fearing, religious, resourceful, uplifting, considerate, generous, meek, modest, and thoughtful. No surprise therefore that one of the fruits she bore today leads Sierra Leone with an in-depth sense of compassion and service to Sierra Leoneans. Mrs. Alice Koroma will be immortalized as the mother whose son President Koroma, led the construction of the New Sierra Leone.
The New Daily Nation extends our condolence to His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma, his siblings, the Koroma family, the Makeni community and the entire nation. Words are inadequate to express our sadness as a result of Mrs. Alice Koroma’s death. Job 19:25-26 reads, “For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.” Mrs. Alice Koroma knew what was most important in life therefore she lived for God through her acts of mercy and piety. The nation mourns because she was a strong pillar and distinguished Sierra Leonean mother. We pray that God will comfort the grieving hearts of everyone in mourning. We pray that God will bless the memories of Mrs. Alice Koroma. Above all, we pray that the Omnipotent God will uphold President Koroma, strengthen our leader and his siblings, and console all those that mourn underneath his everlasting arms of love. Mrs. Alice Koroma has seen God as she now lives through the abiding recollection of the 80 loving years she spent on earth. Amen.
